FKC investigated the causes for the extensive deterioration of these two parking facilities. The reinforced concrete waffle slab system exhibited large concrete spalls and punching shear cracks at the vicinity of the columns. FKC performed a condition survey and testing in order to determine the causes and extent of the damage. Concrete cores were extracted and tested to determine the in-situ concrete strength. Chemical and petrographic tests were performed to evaluate the properties and durability of the concrete. Impact-Echo testing was performed in order to measure the extent of concrete delamination. FKC prepared an engineering report with conclusions and recommendations with alternate repair methods and provided construction cost estimates for the repairs. FKC prepared design drawings and specifications for the selected repair methods.
